An annual calendar (dates and months) is graduated on the case-back bezel and serves to precisely regulate the night sky. Rapidly setting the annual calendar with the crown disconnects the hours and minutes hands, and enables both the position of the night sky and thus all sidereal information to be adjusted both quickly and easily.

The Récital 30 incorporates the innovative roller system from the Récital 28, allowing world travelers to accurately display 25 global time zones during the four time periods of the year – Coordinated Universal Time, American Summer Time, European and American Summer Time, and European Winter Time.

Ever since Daylight Saving Time (DST) was introduced, world time watches have been unable to adapt to the vagaries of when DST starts and ends in different countries, and which countries do not change (only about 70 countries use some form of DST). In reality, all world time watches were wrong during the Daylight Saving Time periods, either set for DST so the rest of the world was wrong by one hour, or set for the majority of the world and the DST countries were off by an hour.

Well named, the Virtuoso tourbillon combines technicality and aesthetics with rare virtuosity. The caliber is integrated in a revisited Amadeo case, with a more sensual curve and a convertibility system with a pusher integrated into the crown, it displays, on the same axis, a jumping hour with instantaneous jump, retrograde minutes and a 5 days power reserve. The readability and finesse of the whole could make us forget the complexity of the construction. The tourbillon mechanism, which occupies the lower half of the dial, is characterized by a balance wheel with three blued masses – based on the aesthetics of the Rising Star tourbillon –, an escape wheel connected to its axis by two curved arms instead of four straight and a shank anchor inspired by those of the in-house pocket watches of the second half of the 19th century.

The Monsieur Bovet “Quetzal” is housed in an 18K white gold case, meticulously hand-engraved with fleurisanne motifs, a traditional decorative technique synonymous with Bovet’s heritage. The jump of the hour disk must be perfectly synchronized with the jump of the minute hand. To add to the timepiece’s functions, the watchmakers developed a corrector that is independent of the hour disk. It allows the Virtuoso V to display a different time zone on each side of the timepiece.
