Laurent Ferrier

The watchmaker gives life to the movement. He assembles hundreds of components to create the “engine” of the watch.

The dial is the face of the watch. It displays both its personality and its functions. It must be harmonious, readable and pay tribute to the movement beating within.

Appraising the perfection of a timepiece involve not only taking account of the complexity and the technical reliability of its movement, but also of its degree of finishing.

Laurent Ferrier – Grand Sport Tourbillon – Golden Brown

  • Description
  • Technical Specifications

This model, initially released in 2019, was inspired by the two founders’ shared love of motor racing. Its case is designed like a beautifully sleek car body, combining clean lines and generous curves with a high-performance engine: the LF619.01 tourbillon calibre with double balance spring.

The Grand Sport case is driven by the exclusive in-house movement developed, assembled and adjusted by Laurent Ferrier and which forged his reputation as an exceptional watchmaker. This calibre features a tourbillon device based on the principle introduced by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, and complemented for the first time by a double hairspring. The major advantage of this construction is its ability to keep the balance centred on its axis, while compensating for the effects of gravity and thereby guaranteeing the extreme reliability of the rating system.

Laurent Ferrier – Classic Origin Blue

  • Description
  • Technical Specifications

Consistent with the Genevan Maison’s inclination for uncluttered aesthetics, the Classic Origin blue exhibits a pure appearance: Assegai-shaped hour and minute hands serenely float above a gradient blue opaline dial. The slate grey dial’s hour track is marked with blue-coloured numerals which prove highly legible, add a soupçon of sportiness, but remain tastefully understated. A small snailed seconds display, featuring a baton-shaped hand is located above 6 o’clock. All three hands are formed of 18-carat white gold.

The LAURENT FERRIER Classic case is constructed of Grade 5 titanium, the first time this lightweight alloy has been used by the company. Widely used in both the medical field and the aviation industry, Grade 5 titanium is strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic. The watch is equipped with the Maison’s iconic ‘Ball-shaped’ crown. Beyond its graceful appearance, the scale and shape of the crown facilitate ease of adjustment.

Laurent Ferrier – Square Micro rotor AUTUMN DIAL

  • Description
  • Technical Specifications

Its calibre that is automatically wound by means of an off-centred Micro-Rotor, stems from an exclusive development inspired by the “natural” escapement invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet. This new double direct-impulse escapement fitted directly on the balance is equipped with a silicon lever. This modern construction, combined with the use of cutting-edge materials, maximizes energy efficiency, which in turn ensures high amplitude for the balance and reduces the mechanical force required to wind the mainspring.

The harmonious construction and the technical performances of the Square Micro-Rotor are part of a global approach envisaged for each of the movement parts, aimed at optimizing energy management – the ultimate goal being to improve user friendliness by more efficient automatic winding of the movement.

Laurent Ferrier – Square Micro rotor retro silvery

  • Description
  • Technical Specifications

LAURENT FERRIER has always drawn its inspiration from the time-honoured traditions of Fine Watchmaking. These vintage influences, combined with the eponymous designer’s animist beliefs, make it possible to create watches that are much more than mere tools for telling the time but real multisensory experiences. Through two exclusive pieces, LAURENT FERRIER offers its contemporary vision of a legendary theme from the late 1930s. Unique and nostalgic, these new Square Micro-Rotor Retro incorporate a real part of history.

After taming Roman numerals and drop-shaped indexes, LAURENT FERRIER is exploring Arabic numerals for this new design. Also known as pilot numerals, they give the whole piece a casual feel while offering exceptional readability. Finely decaled here with an Art Deco touch, the Arabic numerals are combined with a modern, architectural hour circle. This new Square Micro-Rotor Retro’s 1930s influence can also be seen in the use of metallic colours, expressed in two different smart casual adaptations:

Laurent Ferrier – Sport Auto

  • Description
  • Technical Specifications

The exterior of the Sport Auto is a refined interplay of firm and rounded curves enlivened by a few counter-curves outlining a bodywork with a perfectly balanced design. The domed sapphire dominates the watch while giving it an irresistible curve to the touch. The latter offers a bird’s-eye view of a dial bringing together all the LAURENT FERRIER aesthetic codes. Its different shades of blue, combined with its opaline finish, gives it a soft and powdery line.

The Maison’s second automatic calendar movement, the LF 270.01 calibre, is the result of an exclusive LAURENT FERRIER development. As a subtle blend of a tribute to the Micro-Rotor with natural escapement and a more assertive and sporty style, this movement is entirely designed, decorated, assembled and adjusted in the LAURENT FERRIER workshops. More suited to sports watches, this is a Swiss lever escapement using an automatic winding system with an off-centre micro-rotor. For non-negligible benefits in terms of resistance to shocks and vibrations, this movement is fitted with a unidirectional ball bearing replacing the traditional ratchet system.
